CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is an extract found from a cannabis plant. CBD is one of over 100 Phytocannabinoids (chemical compounds) found in the Cannabis Hemp plant. CBD makes up for over 40% of the plant’s extract. Other Cannabinoids include THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid), CBDA (cannabidiolic acid), CBN (cannabinol), CBG (cannabigerol), CBC (cannabichromene) and CBL (cannabicyclol). CBD is normally extracted from the “Hemp” plant (a term used to classify varieties of Cannabis that contain 0.3% or less THC content (by dry weight)).
ISOLATE: CBD isolate is a white, powdery substance that is the pure CBD molecule. CBD isolate does not contain phytocannabinoids like a full or broad-spectrum CBD oil product.
Full Spectrum:
A full-spectrum CBD product refers to cannabis that is extracted from the entire marijuana plant. Not only does it contain the CBD molecule, but it also includes other beneficial cannabinoids, including legal amounts of THC, CBN, THCA, CBG, and CBC.
Broad Spectrum:
A broad spectrum CBD oil will contain all of the phytocannabinoids presents in its full-spectrum cousins, but it does not contain THC.
Water-Soluble:
Consumers can also purchase nano CBD, which is a compound where the CBD molecules are shrunk and changed to a water-based form. This form of CBD oil is ideal for creams because the beneficial CBD can easily pass through the skin in this form.
